Chef Vijayabaskaran is an alumnus of Sainik school and gold medalist from IHM Chennai. His career as a Chef spans over 4 decades where he has worked with India Tourism Development Corporation Hotels, Taj groups and Marriott groups. He was awarded Chief Minister’s medal for standing first in the Hotel Management course. He is the cuisine consultant of Olam international, a leading Agri and food business company. Being passionate about sustainability, he is the co-founder and Director of Everything Recycles Ltd. He is featured in Books – 25 of India’s biggest chefs by Dr. Sagrika Ghoshal, 50 master chefs by saffron media and is the Brand ambassador of Metro wholesale. He was a part of many international events including Asian Games, Non aligned summit Commonwealth meet, SAARC meet, Aero shows and the most recent being catering to Honorable PM Modiji at IISC, Bangalore. He represented India at the Asia Pacific forum of chefs at Gold coast, Australia in 2005 and in Bangkok, Thailand in 2006. He was the president of Indian team for Bocuse d’ Or Asia Pacific selection 2014. He was the former executive Chef of Le Meridien Bangalore where he launched the speciality restaurant Jashn, the sports bar and Lounge. He is a certified chef from the World Association of chefs Societies. He is actively involved with IFCA for long years and was awarded IFCA chef of the year 2008 at the 4th National culinary Congress, Hyderabad in 2009. He was a recipient of Golden Hat award from the South Indian culinary Association. He was the event convener of 5th National culinary Congress held at Bangalore in 2012 that saw over 400 chefs across India and abroad. He was awarded IFCA National culinary Award and IFCA Culinary leadership award in the year 2012. He successfully headed the events team that conducted Sushi workshop in association with JETRO in 2016 held at Bangalore. He was actively involved in organizing IFCA International Chefs conference held at 2015, 2017 and 2019. He served as the Vice-president of IFCA till June 2021 and was later elected as the General Secretary.
